Dithering and Color Schemes

Wasn't expecting to be showcasing this so soon after the last announcement, but some major changes are being done to the graphical systems.

First thing done, is a proper dithering shader system properly and authentically imitating retro dithering styles. This opens up a world of new possibilities for the game. As some have mentioned, Return of the Obra Dinn was an inspiration since the first demo was released way back when. There is a lot of work put into such systems, bridging retro aesthetics with modern mechanics, which has ever since made me realize its possible to give a fresh paint to nostalgia and pixelism aesthetics.

Feducia doesn't offer the same level of interaction as Obra Dinn, primarily because my game primarily exists within static scenes (this may be taken advantage of with great potential during development). Yet with the Macventure aesthetics going on, we can capture the style in the real-time environment. I am now able to work with varying dithering solutions, bridging Bayer and Blue Noise to get distinct feelings in the environments I build.

Less speckling, more solid colors. With that out of the way, this next part opened the way to giving you your own experience. Another one of my favorite games aside form the classics, is WORLD OF HORROR. After my 100th+ playthrough, I wanted to bring this feature in. The ability to change the scheme of the game.

Although I recommend your first playthrough played with the "Original" color scheme because of design decisions for leading the player to key moments and goals, I wanted to make the replayability and customization a main focus for the rest of the production.

So here are some previews of a few color schemes you can select. The last color scheme will be quite familiar to fans and another scheme using the color scheme of my portfolio logo.

Hope you enjoyed this short update. Looking forward to hearing what you all thing about the direction of the game. :)

So awesome! I don't understand anything about dithering or blue noise, BUT I'm really looking forward to the full game, it's gonna be amazing! Keep fighting the good fight, friend!

Thanks Kraiyan! :) Yeah, dithering was something i've never worked with "dithering" before, so it was a fun learning process to get dirty with a new concept. lol Hope you'll enjoy the next release :)
